My Opinion about Zarox, written by Louis Smith

Hello, it’s been a while since I’ve written my last opinion about a book but I don’t have time, I am studying for this important and huge thing, I think in English is called the bar exam, or something like that, when you go to law school and you have to study in order to get your degree, but it’s the final test.

Having said that I’m sorry and now I will talk about Zarox, a book written by Louis Smith, it was published on February 4th, 2017, and it is science fiction.

I always say that I will try not to give away spoilers, but it is kind of difficult so I’m sorry if I say too much. This book I would say it is made specially for children, I mean anyone can read it but I think children will love it because the book is about four kids -it reminded me a little bit about Narnia, if you read this whole review you will see why, even when it is completely different- these four kids are friends, one girl named Lucy, and four boys named Parker, Callum and Riley. Parker and Callum are brothers. These kids like adventures, the thing is they travel to another world, it is like another dimension, and they have to save this world, so they will get superpowers, that’s awesome, isn’t it? The four children will have to go in a journey in order to save the planet…

This world has different kinds of creatures, there are trallops, glothers, relitar (wizards), among others, wizards. Of course, some of them are good and the others aren’t, if you want to know what these creatures are and who are on the good or bad side you need to read this book.

Oh and Zarox is the name of this word, so are they going to be able to save this world? well go ahead and read Zarox.

As I said, the book is about adventure and it is really fun, especially for children but it does not matter what age you are because you will have fun reading it. It would be great if the book it is translated into other languages and I think it’s going to have a sequel, so here I would be waiting to read it. I don’t know if I would re read Zarox it but it was fun.

What I like the most is that it tell the story about the character, especially the children, they are in a constant fight, well not fight but you know how children are, especially Lucy and Riley, but in the end they are always there for each other, and well friendship is about that right? And the book also shows how kids, even when they are still in school (obviously, they are kids) they have the power to achieve great things, so it is amazing.

I will stop here or I will give spoilers and well that’s not fun at all.

The Syrena Legacy, my review

The Syrena Legacy, is a trilogy written by Anna Banks, who is an American author, however, there are 6 more books about this story, I haven’t read those books but I am planning on 

doing it, so the are 9 total books in the The Syrena Legacy Series.

I started reading these books because it was summer and I didn’t know what to do, and well I like this kind of books where you can read about humans meeting other kinds of species that in real life does not exist but as you know in books and imagination everything is possible, that’s the beauty of it and I like this kind of fantasy and you are going to find romance too so that is so much better.

Spoilers alert:

• The First Book 2012: Of Poseidon:

The first book tells the story about Emma who is a girl who just lost her best friend, she is at the beach when she runs into this guy, something weird happened, the guy is Galen, a prince from the Triton Kingdom, from the Syrena world, he is looking for a girl who might have a gift. He is not sure about Emma, but Emma in the water encounters a shark and she speaks with the shark so now Galen believes she is the right girl, because she can actually speaks with fished. Galen has a twin sister, Rayna and his best friend is Toraf. Rayna has a strong personality too and Toraf is a really sweet guy. Emma starts to understand more about the Syrena world because she did not know that this world actually existed.

Oh guys I want to tell you so much about everything but I won’t because then you won’t read the books.

• The Second Book 2013: Of Triton:

Emma found out that her her mother is a long lost Poseidon princess, because in the Syrena world there are two kingdoms, the Poseidon and Triton, so that makes Emma half human and half syrena, that’s why she can be under the water longer than any common  human, and she also starts to understand so many things, no one never found out  she was different because her dad was a doctor and he always hide this secret. The problem is that law in the syrena world says that her kind should be put to death. Besides, her mother’s reappearance among the Syrena turns the two kingdoms, Poseidon and Triton, against one another. Emma does not know what to do. Her mom used to date the prince from the other kingdom and her mom also went against the law, she never returned to the sea. Ups, I’m sorry, way too much information over here.

• The Third Book 2014: Of Neptune:

Emma and Galen need time for themselves, away from all the fuss, Emma’s grandfather, the Poseidon king, who Emma just met, said that Galen and Emma should go and visit a small town called Neptune. This town is home for people like Emma, half human, half Syrena, new problems will appear. They met a guy named Reed, Galen is jealous, so jealous, they also found themselves in the middle of a power struggle that threatens their ocean kingdoms too, in this book there are fights, and a lot more action, and romance too.

So, what can I say? I liked the books, as I said before I like this kind of fantasy and romance, we have read a lot about human and vampires being in love, but not about mermaids and humans. Well I will not give this trilogy five stars, these books are easy to read, short and fun, not the best book but definitely they are worth to be read, I would  say these books are for teenagers, and if you don’t know what to read, this trilogy is a veeery good option, I don’t know if I will read them again, but I don’t regret the time I spend reading these books, besides when you start a trilogy, at least, I cannot stop until I’ve read them all.

Un poco más sobre Animales Fantásticos y Dónde Encontrarlos, Los Crímenes de Grindelwald

Ayer 16 de noviembre se revelaron las nuevas imágenes de la nueva película del mundo mágico, hablo de Animales Fantásticos y Dónde Encontrarlos, Los Crímenes de Grindelwald, sí, esa será la  nueva película que debiera salir a la luz el 16 de noviembre de 2018, película que tendrá como director a David Yates. En esta nueva entrega sabemos que podremos ver a Hogwarts, colegio de magia muy conocido por todos nosotros, pero esto ocurre antes de que Harry Potter, Ron y Hermione nacieran.

En la imagen podemos ver a Jude Law (Albus Dumbledore), Ezra Miller (Credence), Claudia Kim (Maledictus), Zoë Kravitz (Leta Lestrange), Callum Turner (Theseus Scamander), Katherine Waterston (Tina Goldstein), Eddie Redmayne (Newt Scamander), Dan Fogler (Jacob Kowalski), Alison Sudor (Queenie Goldsteint), Johnny Depp (Gellert Grindelwald).

Spoiler Alert de aquí en adelante:

Esta nueva entrega me emociona mucho, ya que aunque hay personajes nuevos, de todas formas algo sabemos de ellos, por los libros y las películas de Harry Potter. Para los que no saben Luna Lovegood se casó con Rolf Scamander, quien es nieto de Newt Scamander y de Tina Goldstein. Theseus Scamander es el hermano mayor de Newt y Leta Lestrange es pariente de Bellatrix Lestrange quien es hermana de Narcissa Malfoy y Andrómeda Tonks, ya saben, la primera mamá de Draco Malfoy y la segunda mamá de Nymphadora Tonks quienes son primas de Sirius Black. No obstante, no tenemos con certeza seguridad el parentezco entre Leta Lestrange y Bellatrix, pero debo decir que el apelido de soltera de Bellatrix es Black y al casarse con Rodolphus Lestrange tomó su apellido. Además, también hay que decir que Bellatrix tuvo una hija con Voldemort, Delphini, tal como supimos en Harry Potter y el Legado Maldito. Pero ya no seguiré con los parentezcos porque así podría estar escribiendo páginas y páginas, pero sabemos que en el mundo mágico, tal y como dijo una vez Sirius Black, todos tienen algún tipo de parentezco.

Bueno ahora les cuento un poco más sobre este mago tenebroso, Gellert Grindelwald, además de ya haberlo visto en la primera película de Animales Fantásticos y Dónde Encontrarlos, también lo conocimos antes en una de las entregas de Harry Potter, Harry Potter y las Reliquias de la Muerte parte 1, donde fue interpretado por Jamie Campbell Bower. Para los que leímos los libros y para quienes somos en general fanáticos de Harry Potter entendemos la relación entre Gellert y Albus. Gellert Grindelwald era un mago oscuro y peligroso, él tenía ganas de llegar más lejos y tenía gran interés en la parte oscura de la magia, sí, muy parecido a Voldemort. Él fue amigo de Albus Dumbledore, su interés era reunir las Reliquias de la Muerte (la varita de Saúco, la piedra de la resurrección y la capa de invisibilidad), esta historia se cuenta en el libro de Harry Potter y  las Reliquias de la Muerte, no obstante, si estás interesado en ser  un verdadero mago,  te recomiendo leer Los Cuentos de Beedle el Bardo. Gellert estudió en Durmstrang, colegio que puede que les suene conocido por Victor Krum, ya saben, uno de los participantes en el Torneo de los Tres Magos y jugador profesional de quidditch. En Durmstrang fue donde Gellert comenzó a hacer sus experimentos los que terminaron con su expulsión, por lo que se mudó a vivir con su tía abuela Bathilda Bagshot (ya saben, la famosa historiadora y sus libros son también estudiados por los estudiantes de Hogwart y que también aparece en una de las películas de Harry Potter) al Valle de Godric en Inglaterra, es ahí donde comenzó la amistad con Dumbledore, pero a la vez, también surgió una enemistad con Aberforth y Ariana, quienes eran los hermanos de Albus, la rivalidad con Grindelwald llegó a tal punto que en medio de un incidente Ariana murió y Gellert huyó.

Gellert incluso comenzó a crear un ejército de Inferi, y finalmente luego de todo el alboroto que Gellert estaba realizando, matando gente y haciendo caos, Dumbledore decidió combatirlo y ganó, por lo tanto, ganó también la varita de Saúco, finalmente Gellert terminó encerrado en Nurmengard, donde luego habría muerto a manos de Voldemort. Se dice que Dumbledore habría sentido más que una simple amistad por Grindelwald, que este incluso habría tenido sentimientos románticos por él.

Entonces, como conclusión qué podemos decir, en esta película podremos ver la parte en que Grindelwald está devastando al mundo por haber sido el mago tenebroso más grande antes de Voldemort, Grindelwald tiene la varita de saúco (imagen de más abajo), Dumbledore se enfrentará a Grindelwald, la película tiene lugar en 1927, sólo unos meses después de la primera película de Newt de la que fuimos testigos. Newt habría terminado de escribir su libro, ¿adivinan cuál? Animales Fantasticos y Dónde Encontrarlos, el que todos los estudiantes de Hogwarts han tenido que estudiar para las clases de cuidado de criaturas mágicas. Como ya dije podremos ver a Hogwarts. No sólo esto sucederá en Nueva York, sino que también en Paris y Londres. Lo que me gustó de la foto es que Credence vuelve, personaje que es imposible no querer, quien aparece en la foto al lado de otra bruja que tendría una maldición que la hace transformarse en una bestia, distinta a un animago (ya saben, como la profesora McGonagall que se transformaba en gato).

My opinion about: The Love Detective and Love From Paris by Alexandra Potter.

The Love Detective (2014) and Love From Paris (2015) are two books written by Alexandra Potter, she is a British author of  romantic books, I’ve just read two but I loved them.

First of all I want to tell you how I got to read these books. I read the books in different order, first I read Love From Paris and then I read The Love Detective, I didn’t know they were two, but never mind, the thing is, once you read one you will totally want to read the other, these book are really fun and easy to read, so you will be able to read them fast because you will not get bored, and if you like reading love stories, then go ahead and read these novels.

Sorry for the spoilers if I give any…I will try to tell very little about the plot.

•  The Love Detective

The Love Detective is the story about this English author named Ruby, she writes love stories, however she is having a hard time trying to write, she just had a recent and awful break up with her fiance so she doesn’t seem to find the right things to write, so her agent, Diana tells her to go on vacation for a couple of days, Ruby listens to Diana and decides to go to India, where her little sister is…

She will go on a road with an American stranger and an Indian man, she starts believing in love again, you know when you travel you tend to believe in new things, you meet some people, new places, new experiences, I mean, how could you not to, the Taj Mahal, and all those beautiful places and people, everything is so different from London. However not everything is perfect, because she has many obstacles to overcome, will she be brave enough to finish this trip or will she go back to England before even trying? She starts getting to know a guy who is helping her after all her things were stolen, but Ruby just does not believe in love anymore, or in men, so it is very difficult for her, but the best part of everything is that this journey have so many weird things happening, is it coincidence? is it destiny? This is amazing, somehow all this trip it suits like a puzzle.

I really loved this book, this story is really romantic and so pure, it is my favorite of the two, if you are a person who like love stories then you will probably love The Love Detective.

SPOILER ALERT because now I will write a little about the second book about Ruby.

• Love From Paris

In this book, Ruby decides to go to Paris, after she was supposed to meet her boyfriend, who is coming from the U.S.A., but Jack stands her up at the airport, Ruby lives in London, so she goes to France to visit one of her best friend who is living there, this is so weird, she decides to go with her dog, but she cannot travel with a pet in the train, so she met this nice old man who is travelling with her grand daughter and they will help Ruby and her dog.

Her friend is working on a new project, they are going to sell and apartment that the time had stood still, it is amazing and weird, when Ruby goes to this apartment she finds some letters that seems to have been there for a long time, Ruby decides to read those letter and she will try to find the answer of the mystery, who wrote those letter? Why someone paid the bills for an apartment that was empty? .

She also meets a French lawyer, they talk, he is nice but hey, she has a boyfriend, but she also is feeling a little bit insecure, you know that sometimes you just tend to think way too much and you start believing things that never happened.

In this book Ruby becomes the person who will solve the mystery and she will do her best to answer all the doubts she has, no one really knows what happened in that apartment. Will she see her boyfriend again? Will she find love in Paris?

I really don’t want to say more, but this book is really beautiful too, go ahead and read it, after reading these amazing books I can say that probably I keep reading this author, because I like the way she writes, and sometimes you just need to read and forget about all the stress of the daily life and the kind of books are great for that and well, for believe in love again, READ…

Crítica sobre Las Chicas de Alambre.

Las Chicas de Alambre, del escritor español Jordi Sierra i Fabra fue publicado en 1999  por la editorial Santillana y luego más tarde por Alfaguara en 2008.

Este libro lo tuve que leer hace muchos años en el colegio, por lo general, los libros que daban en el colegio siempre me aburrían, pero este libro me gustó mucho y lo he leído ya varias veces, es por esto que decidí escribir mi opinión sobre esta historia.

El libro cuenta la vida de tres modelos conocidas como las chicas de alambre que estaban en lo más alto de sus carreras, este nombre se les dio por su figura muy delgada, en la que todos las admiraban y eran consideradas como perfectas.

Luego de una década desde que ya no se sabe nada de Jess, Cyrille y Vania, que son las tres modelos, que por distintas circunstancias desaparecen del ojo público, una revista decide hacer un reportaje de ellas y averiguar qué sucedió realmente justo para la fecha de aniversario de los diez años. Cyrille y Jess murieron, pero realmente no se sabe qué sucedió con Vania. Cyrille nació en el Cairo y Jess en Ohio, Estados Unidos, mientras que Vania era española.

El libro cuenta cómo entraron a la industria de la moda, cómo se hicieron famosas, y cómo fue que sus vidas terminaron de forma tan trágica luego de tanto éxito. No diré ni cómo ni porqué mueren porque ya sería dar muchos spoilers, ahora la duda surge al preguntarse ¿será posible que Jon Boix, el periodista a cargo de la investigación, logré averiguar qué fue lo que realmente sucedió con Vania? Jon Boix deberá recorren un largo camino para tratar de averiguar e investigar todo lo que necesita para llevar a cabo el reportaje.

No diré nada más y los invito a leer este libro, a mí, como dije anteriormente, me gustó mucho, creo que habla mucho sobre la industria detrás de la moda, no todo es glamour y felicidad, sino que detrás se esconden historias humanas mucho más interesantes y a veces brutales de cómo funciona ese mundo.

To All The To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before, P.S. I Still Love You, Always and Forever Lara Jean: Mi opinión

Digo mi opinión porque siento que una crítica es algo que debería hacer alguien con más experiencia que yo, antes que todo diré que había escrito mucho y  se me borró, no sé cómo, en fin.

Estos libros fueron escritos por Jenny Han y tratan sobre Lara Jean, una niña que vive con sus dos hermanas y su papá, su hermana mayor se llama Margot, a quien le dicen Gogo y su hermana menor que se llama Katherine, pero le dice Kitty. Su papá es médico y es viudo, su madre murió hace unos años cuando Margot tenía 12, Lara Jean 9 y Kitty 2 años (creo que recuerdo bien), su mamá era coreana y su padre estadounidense, pero todos viven en Charlottesville, Virginia, Estados Unidos. Yo diría que estos libros son para adolescentes, pero yo tengo 28 años y de todas maneras me gustaron mucho, el primero lo compré porque siempre compro libros pero estaba un poco pobre de dinero y este libro estaba barato y la verdad me sorprendió mucho.

La foto la puse en inglés, porque esos son mis libros, que los leí en ese idioma.

• A Todos Los Chicos De Los Que Me Enamoré (To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before) fue publicado el 15 de abril de 2014, (por lo menos la fecha del libro en inglés).

Comienza a contar la historia de Lara Jean, cómo vive, ella tiene una muy buena amiga llamada Chris y un amigo Lucas, Margot está a punto de terminar los estudios para luego ir a estudiar a Escocia en la Universidad, por lo que termina con su pololo Josh. Lara Jean solía escribir cartas a los chicos que ella quería, pero las guardaba nunca las envió, pero un día, las cartas se envían, Lara Jean no sabe qué sucedió, pero los chicos remitentes de las cartas las reciben y se dan cuenta de los sentimientos que alguna vez Lara Jean tuvo por ellos, además Lara Jean en esta época comienza una relación falsa con uno de los remitentes y establecen reglas para seguir con esta mentira. No diré nombres para no dar spoilers.

• P.D. Todavía Te Quiero (P.S. I Still Love You) se publicó el 26 de mayo de 2015, (por lo menos la fecha del libro en inglés).

Luego de una pelea entre Lara Jean y alguno de los chicos, ella se da cuenta que tiene sentimientos por uno, espera reconciliarse. Un video de ella con uno de los chicos es subido  a internet y todos piensan que estaban teniendo sexo, pero en realidad, Lara Jean no es ese tipo de chica. Margot aconseja a Lara Jean a que busque trabajo y ella decide seguir los pasos de su hermana mayor y se ofrece de voluntaria en una casa de retiro en donde conoce a una agradable anciana, llena de vida, simpatía que da consejos a Lara Jean. Kitty por mientras, trata de que su papá salga en citas con una vecina de ellos. Lara Jean comienza a enviarse cartas con uno de los chicos, pero ella continúa teniendo sentimientos por otro, pero la ex novia de él hace surgir incertidumbre a si esto puede o no suceder.

• Siempre y Para Siempre Lara Jean (Always and Forever, Lara Jean) se publicó el 2 de mayo de 2017, (por lo menos la fecha del libro en inglés)

Lara Jean ya saldrá del estudiar para partir a la universidad, tiene un novio y es muy feliz, me encanta la relación que tiene con su novio, pero esta nueva etapa comenzará y quizá no todo volverá a ser como era antes, la mamá de ellas siempre decía “don’t be the girl who goes to college with a boyfriend” (no seas la chica que va a la universidad con pololo), a veces quieres ir a cierta universidad, pero no siempre lo que deseas resulta, no obstante, la vida te puede dar sorpresas, el amor que se tienen será suficiente o no. Alguien muy querido para Margot y Lara Jean muere. Su padre también está en una relación seria y se casará, Margot tiene un nuevo pololo y Kitty está más madura, pero sigue siendo una niña, su regalo de graduación es un viaje para ella y sus hermanas a Corea.

Espero no haber dado demasiados spoilers, pero realmente los invito a leer estos libros, son fáciles de leer y rápidos, además simples, quizá si están en la misma etapa que Lara Jean los pueda ayudar con sus decisiones, pero lo más importante es que son entretenidos, yo empecé y me los leí muy rápidos, porque nunca me aburrieron, así que adelante, a leerlos.

Aaah, y además, ahora están haciendo la película y en mi humilde opinión, es siempre mejor leer el libro y luego ver la película.

I say in my opinion because I feel that a review is something that should be done by someone with more experience.

These books were written by the american Jenny Han and are about a girl named Lara Jean, a girl who lives with her two sisters and her dad, her older sister is called Margot, who is called Gogo and her younger sister is called Katherine, but they call her Kitty. His father is a doctor and a widower, his mother died a few years ago when Margot was 12, Lara Jean 9 and Kitty was 2 years old (If I remember well), her mother was Korean and her father . American, but they all live in Charlottesville, Virginia, U.S. I would say that these books are for teenagers, but I am 28 years old and anyway I liked them a lot, the first one I bought it because I always buy books but I didn’t have much money at the time  and this book was cheap and the truth is that it really surprised me because I really liked it.

• To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before was published on April 15, 2014.

The book tells the story of Lara Jean, how she lives, she has a very good friend named Chris and another friend called Lucas, Margot is about to finish high school and then is about to leave for college and she’s studying in Scotland, so she broke up with her boyfriend Josh. Lara Jean used to write letters to the boys she liked, but she kept the letters, never sent them, but one day, the letters are sent, Lara Jean does not know what happened, but the guys got the letters and realized the feelings that Lara Jean once had for them, in addition Lara Jean at this time begins a false relationship with one of the boys and establish rules to continue with this lie. I will not say names because I don’t want to give away spoilers.

• P.S. I Still Love You (P.S. I Still Love You) was published on May 26, 2015.

After a fight between Lara Jean and one of the boys, she realizes that she has feelings for one.  A video of her with one of the guys is uploaded to the internet and everyone thinks they were having sex, but in reality, Lara Jean is not that kind of girl, also her dad finds out about this, but the guy protects her. Margot advises Lara Jean to look for a job and she decides to follow the footsteps of her older sister and volunteers in a retirement home where she meets a nice old woman, full of life, sympathy who always is willing to give a piece of advice to Lara Jean. Kitty for the time being, tries to get her dad to go on dates with a neighbor. Lara Jean begins to send letters with one of the boys they become pen pal, but she continues to have feelings for another guy, but his ex girlfriend makes her feel unsecure.

• Always and Forever Lara Jean (Always and Forever, Lara Jean) was published on May 2, 2017.

Lara Jean will leave school to go to college, she has a boyfriend and she’s very happy, I love the relationship, they look so cute together (at leas that’s what I imagine when reading the book), but this new stage will begin and maybe not everything will be as it was before, their mother always said “do not be the girl who goes to college with a boyfriend”, sometimes you want to go to a certain college, but not always what you want is what you get, however, life can surprise you, the love you have will be enough or not. Someone dies, someone who Margot and Lara Jean love a lot passes away. Her father is also in a serious relationship and is getting married, Margot has a new boyfriend and Kitty is more mature, but still a kid, her graduation gift is a trip for her and her sisters to Korea.

I hope I have not given too many spoilers, but I really invite you to read these books, they are easy to read and fast, also simple, maybe if you are in the same stage as Lara Jean can help you with your decisions, or at leas make you feel NOT alone but the best part is that these books  are really fun to read. I started and I read them very fast, because I never got bored, so go ahead, and read them. Besides they are filming the movie now and I think it’s better to first read the book and then watch the movie.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child – Parts One and Two

Bueno, quién no lo ha leído…

Primero que todo, debo decir que soy un mega fanática de J.K. Rowling y toda la saga de Harry Potter y todo lo relacionado, por lo que no podía faltar este libro dentro de mi colección y obviamente tuve que comprarlo inmediatamente.

Diré que esperaba un poco más del libro, en ningún caso digo que no me gustó, pero esperaba más, creo que todo fiel lector de la saga de Harry Potter seguirá leyendo lo que salga sobre estos libros,  sobre esta franquicia, ya que muchos crecimos con ellos y fue parte de nuestra vida, aunque no estuvimos físicamente en Hogwarts, sí lo estuvimos desde nuestro corazón.

Lo que me gustó de esta serie es que nos muestra la forma en cómo viven Harry, Ginny,  Ron y Hermione cuando ya están grandes, no sólo ellos sino que también los demás, entre ellos, incluidos Draco Malfoy, además, a través de este libro pudimos conocer a sus hijos, debe decir que uno de los hijos, no nombraré a quién me  cayó un poco mal, pero bueno… mientrás que el hijo de uno de los personajes, en la saga anterior antagonista, se ganó mi corazón.

Me gustó mucho ver cómo se relacionaban estos niños en el colegio, cómo tuvieron que luchar con la imagen de sus famosos padres y los sucesos que pasaron mientras ellos iban a clases. Además, conocemos a la hija de un famoso mago que desea seguir fielmente los pasos de su padre y decide convertirse en la mala de la historia.

Lo que me sucedió con este libro es que no me gustó la forma en la que actuó uno de los personajes al cual  siempre tuve mucho cariño, todavía le tengo, pero me decepcionó un poco, ya sé, suena ridículo hablar así de un personaje ficticio, pero es que cuando llevas años leyendo sobre ellos ya son parte de tu familia, creo que este libro debería leerlo todo fan de Harry Potter, no sólo los que siempre seguimos con ellos, sino también los que sin leer el libro les tomaron gusto a las películas.

Yes, My Accent Is Real: And Some Other Things I Haven't Told You, Kunal Nayyar

Holaaa, bueno, comenzaré por explicar la razón de porqué decidí leer este libro, yo soy una gran fan de la serie The Big Bang Theory, por lo tanto, consideré interesante leer sobre lo que decía Kunal en su libro, ya que él es parte de esta serie, supe de este libro a través del talk show de Ellen Degeneres e inmediatamente lo compré.

Es un libro muy liviano, explica su vida, es su autobiografía contada por él, obviamente, a través de las hojas de este libro, el narra su vida en Inglaterra, India y luego Estados Unidos, cuenta como  se enfrentó a diversas situaciones, además de describir cómo suceden las cosas en su país y en los otros dos que nombré.

La verdad, es que es muy franco para explicar las diversas situaciones que ha enfrentado, así como también, habla de su familia, amigos, su actual trabajo y cómo fue que conoció a su ahora esposa, yo recomiendo este libro para la gente que ve la serie o quiere leer sobre la diferencia que existe con respecto a distintas culturas, es un libro entretenido y fácil de leer, muy bueno para pasar un buen rato, sobre todo si  eres fanático de la serie The Big Bang Theory y te gusta el humor que hay ahí, ya que la narrativa de este libro es en ese sentido, divertida.

Crítica de Sea Breeze de Abbi Glines

Esta serie de nueve libros, por lo menos hasta el momento, la decidí leer porque eran las vacaciones, comencé a leer el primer libro y lo miré muy mal, pensé que sería muy aburrido, la verdad, es que me sucedió lo opuesto.

El primer libro cautivó mi atención y me lo leí en tres días, lo encontré muy entretenido, de cinco estrellas le doy cuatro y eso es porque los libros que continúan se ponen aún más interesantes.

Se trata de historias de amor de amigos que van conociendo sus parejas, de un gran grupo de amigos, los que salen en toda la serie, va contando por libro lo que sucede específicamente con cada uno de ellos.

Los libros tienen mucho romance y pasión. Habla de cómo los personajes pasan de ser muy reacios al amor y la vida fiel, de pasar en fiestas y cambiar cada noche de persona, finalmente, se enamoran y dejan todo eso por la fidelidad y el amor.

No son sólo historias lindas, también cuenta la difícil vida desde la infancia que algunos de los personajes tuvieron y hace ver que a veces el dinero tampoco hace la felicidad. Describe a cada ser y uno se imagina a hombres perfectos y mujeres con un cuerpo envidiable, pero no hace que uno los odie, uno se encariña con los personajes. Además, muestra como las diferentes personas de distintas clases sociales y distintos ambientes pueden enamorarse, sin que importen los prejuicios, incluso si eres famoso.

Ahora comencé a leer el noveno y ya me encantó. No lo he terminado porque no tengo tiempo, pero todos los otros libros los leí en un rango de dos a cinco días máximo. Lo recomiendo a todos aquellos lectores que aman el romanticismo.

Para la serie entera le pongo cinco estrellas, realmente me encantó, pronto comenzaré a leer los otros libros de Abbi Glines, que me dio unas agradables vacaciones en cuanto a la lectura.

Ciudades de Papel, mi comentario respecto de este libro

Hola, bueno es difícil para mi escribir sobre este libro, pero aquí voy…

Margo y Quentin solían ser amigos desde pequeños, vivían en casas uno al lado del otro, pero por alguna razón se distanciaron, quizá fue por el hombre muerto que encontraron. Sin embargo, esta distancia entre ellos dura hasta que Margo golpea la ventana de Quentin para llevarlo por una aventura durante la noche además de ir por venganza. Quentin piensa que quizá volverán a ser amigos, pero al otro día, se lleva la sorpresa que Margo se encuentra desaparecida.

No obstante, como siempre, la misteriosa Margo deja acertijos para que la encuentren y por supuesto, Quentin decide ir en su búsqueda, la cual no resulta nada fácil, pero se le unen sus amigos y comienza el seguimiento de la popular chica.

Considero que el libro va muy despacio y me costó bastante leerlo, cuando leí Bajo la Misma Estrella fue un libro que me gustó bastante, además de emocionarme. Lo mismo me sucedió con la película, a diferencia de Ciudades de Papel del mismo autor, John Green, que fue uno de los libros que menos cariño le tuve.

Comencé a leer con mucho entusiasmo y lo dejé tirado por bastante tiempo, luego comencé a averiguar si siempre era lento y me dijeron que sí, pero me obligué a terminarlo, finalmente lo terminé y no amé para nada el personaje de Margo. El final tampoco me gustó, es un libro bastante lento, lo que sí puedo rescatar es que muestra lo fuerte que puede llegar a ser el amor e incluso la amistad y eso te puede llevar a hacer cosas locas e inimaginables.

Quizá la película me guste más, de todas formas, creo que las opiniones son siempre muy subjetivas y mi opinión no debe menguar las ganas a alguien de leer el libro, todo lo contrario, ojalá les guste.

As You Wish, mi comentario del libro.

Trata de una niña llamada Viola, tiene 16 años, ella acaba de terminar su relación con su novio, su novio era gay, pero ellos continúan siendo muy buenos amigos. No obstante, Viola comienza a sentirse sola, pero un genio llega a su vida que le concederá tres deseos. Cada día que el genio pasa en la tierra envejece más, por lo que él está muy apresurado por irse a su planeta.

Al principio, el genio era muy pesado, pero los sentimientos entre ellos comienzan a cambiar y el amor comienza a nacer, el genio está casi siempre con ella y ella ya no se siente tan sola.

Sin embargo, las relaciones entre genios y seres humanos están prohibidas. Y cuando los humanos no piden los tres deseos y el genio no puede volver a su hogar, aparecen otros genios que tienen otro tipo de trabajos, ellos se llaman ifrit y su labor consiste en hacer que algo suceda, como por ejemplo, un choque, de esa manera, obligan al humano a pedir el deseo.

Los genios trabajan con una serie de reglas y si las infringen son sancionados al volver a su planeta, planeta que por lo demás, se describe como hermoso, allá tienen otro tipos de trabajos y los genios también son seres hermosos.

Violeta comienza a pedir deseos y a pesar que se los cumplen, no es completamente feliz, además, la relación entre el genio y ella comienza a volverse más romántica.

Es un libro muy liviano y entretenido de leer, no es algo tan profundo, pero lo recomiendo de todas formas, yo lo leí muy rápido, tampoco puedo contar más, porque sería contar el final de la historia, pero deben leerlo para saber si ellos continuarán juntos o se le borrará la memoria a Viola y no recordará nada de nada.

“Matar a un Ruiseñor” Harper Lee y mi opinión

El libro trata de dos hermanos, Jem y Scout, que viven junto a su padre que es abogado, Atticus, en verano tienen un amigo el que llega sólo por la temporada estival a su pueblo llamado Dill y también tienen una persona que los ayuda en la casa, una mujer de color llamada Calpurnia a la cual los niños quieren mucho.

Los niños se entretienen usando su imaginación y buscando juegos y también comienzan una especie de juego en el que tratan de sacar a un vecino de la casa al cual no se ha visto hace un largo tiempo, Boo Radley.

Su padre será el abogado de un hombre de color, Tom Tobinson, que es acusado de violar a una mujer de 19 años,  pero él no cometió dicho delito, no obstante, por su color  de piel es injutamente tratado. Es en esta parte de la historia en la que se ve principalmente la iniquidad que existe entre las distintas razas. En esa época paralelamente, sucedía la persecusión hacía los judíos por parte de Hitler.

Cuando Scout, la niña de la familia, comienza a ir al colegio es tratada injustamente (hoy se consideraría así) por parte de una profesora, que se dirige a los niños de forma violenta y discriminadora, a mi parecer, lo que también me causó asombro.

Al comenzar a leer el libro y haber leído un poco sobre lo que trataba no entendí, al comienzo me pareció un tanto aburrido y lento, pero luego al comprender bien el  tema que el libro trae a colación me empecé a encantar con la historia al punto de no poder dejarlo de leer.

Me encantaría que este libro fuese más conocido en el mundo hispanoamericano, para los niños y todo tipo de personas. Muestra como se trataba a la gente de color hace unos años en Estados Unidos, el relato que entrega el libro  me conmovió, ya que me es un tanto difícil entender esta realidad y sólo por tener un aspecto físico te condenan y acusan de actividades que probablemente nunca hiciste.

Creo que se debiera leer además, porque es una forma de ponernos en los zapatos de nuestro prójimo al leer, ya que con la lectura la imaginación fluye más. A pesar que esta historia está enfocada hace pocos años y la historia ha cambiado muchísimo en la forma en que tratamos a los demás, todavía falta un gran camino por recorrer en la igualdad con nuestros vecinos, ya sea por hombres, mujeres, o personas de distintas nacionalidades.

El libro me terminó gustando mucho y lo recomendaría a todos. No sólo muestra el racismo que debieron vivir muchas personas, que probablemente todavía se sufre en algunos lados, sino también, muestra una historia de amor, pero no hablo entre dos enamorados, ya que el amor puede ir más allá, amor de padres, hijos, familiares, personas que no son familia, pero están muy cercanos a nosotros.
